Ways to Support VanderCook
VanderCook thrives because of the many generous donors who support the College. Whether you are interested in supporting the College’s day-to-day operations or would like to have a major impact on the future of the College with an endowed scholarship or dedicated space in our new performance hall, your support is needed and appreciated more than you can imagine.
There are six ways to give. Please explore them by clicking on the following links:
Tuition from students only covers a portion of the cost of providing a high quality music education to our students. As future educators, they need to be empowered to be their best. For us, that means ensuring that every student has the opportunity to be an excellent musician, a polished professional, and a trusted colleague. Everyday, the College strives to provide an outstanding music education experience to empower our students for their future. Your gift to the Share Your Passion Annual Campaign supports this important vision.
VanderCook aspires to offer our students a first-class educational experience in a modern facility comparable to those our graduates will work in when they graduate. They need a place to rehearse, perform, and practice their art. In June of 2022, the College proudly reported that we had raised $2.5 million to match the generous gift promised by Dr. Keith Mardak. We are now well on our way to the end stages of fundraising and the realization of the Dr. Keith Mardak Performing Arts Building. Great Teachers Scholarship Fund
Our world needs creative, imaginative individuals to make the world happier, more bountiful and beautiful. A music teacher is one of those individuals, striving to help every child reach their potential as a thriving, well-balanced adult, made whole through the gift of music. Scholarships make it possible for every future music educator who aspires to attend VanderCook to do so. The need has never been greater. Please click below to learn more.

One City offers free music lessons, rehearsals, and instruments to students from local elementary schools and neighborhoods. Students in grade 5 – 8 can join Once City Jazz, which pays tribute to Chicago’s jazz roots by offering saxophone, trumpet, trombone, percussion (drums), bass and piano. Student in grade Kindergarten – 5 can join One City Strings where they will learn to play the violin using the Suzuki method, which focuses on parent involvement in the child’s learning.
When children have access to quality music instruction, the positive impact can be life-changing. VanderCook’s One City program helps ensure that all children have access to high-quality musical instruments and outstanding music education.
Every Gift Matters…
Gifts to VanderCook come in many forms and sizes and each one truly makes a difference. You may wonder how a small contribution can matter to the college – how it can “make a dent.” Combined with other donor gifts, even a relatively minor contribution can make a major impact.
