Meet the Challenge Capital Campaign
In 2014, VanderCook embarked on the first of what is now a three-phased campaign to renovate and modernize the buildings that we occupy on the Illinois Institute of Technology campus.
Phase I ($3.9M). Finished!
This portion of the renovation focused on infrastructure upgrades, Quinlan Hall, classroom, a kitchen, Wenger practice rooms, and teaching studios. It is used daily. Already, thousands of people from young children to senior citizens have performed, listened, created and studied in this space. It is used daily and is a significant upgrade for VanderCook.
Phase II ($7.4M).
Phase II is in development. The 3125 Building will be renamed the Dr. Keith Mardak Music Building and encompass all of Phase I improvements. We have now matched the $2.5M donated by Dr. Mardak and are well on our way to seeing this project to fruition. When completed, it will contain a large performance hall, percussion suite, additional classrooms, and enhanced entrance and common areas.

Phase III ($6.6M)
The current building at 3140 S. Federal Street is in dire need of interior and exterior upgrades to modernize the facility, enhance climate control, become ADA compliant, and address deferred maintenance. Although we are in the early stages of this project, we have developed drawings and received a detailed construction estimate on this project.
Naming opportunities will be available for this project, too, and are listed here.
Every Gift Matters…
Gifts to VanderCook come in many forms and sizes and each one truly makes a difference. You may wonder how a small contribution can matter to the college – how it can “make a dent.” Combined with other donor gifts, even a relatively minor contribution can make a major impact.
