IIT Student Registration
IIT Student Registration Information
Every year, IIT students enroll for music courses at VanderCook. These students participate in classes, play in ensembles, and take private lessons, becoming a valued part of our student body. Courses at VanderCook can be used to fulfill humanities electives or even earn a music minor.
VanderCook courses are open to IIT students during the fall and spring semesters only. IIT students can register for fall and spring courses during the first two weeks of each semester.
Fee Information
The fee for IIT students is $500.00 for each semester, payable to IIT. This fee covers private lessons on one instrument and as many other classes or ensembles as the student wants (and is eligible) to take. IIT students can take private lessons on more than one instrument in a given semester, however, the $500.00 fee applies for each additional instrument.

- Philharmonic Orchestra
- Concert Choir
- Jazz Band
- Music History & Culture I (fall)
- Music History & Culture II (spring)
- Theory (Musicianship & Theory – 4 levels)
- World Music (fall)
- Intro to Music Technology
- Social Justice and the Community
- US History
- English I – Composition and Creation
- English III – Literature
- Plus various medium and small ensembles
Private Lessons are available on the following instruments:
Piano, Harp, Voice, Guitar, Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Bassoon, Saxophone, Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone, Euphonium, Tuba, Percussion, Violin, Viola, Cello, and String Bass
