The Midwest Clinic is pleased to offer online learning opportunities to K-12 music education teachers through its education portal, learning.midwestclinic.org. The site features hourlong recordings of Clinics featured at past Midwest conferences, which can be watched and redeemed through your state’s CEU licensing organization for learning credits.
Clinic topics include:
- Music administration and leadership
- classroom and rehearsal management and strategies
- instrumentation-specific, including tuba, double reeds, electroacoustic works, and percussion
- fostering inclusive classrooms
- bilingual classrooms
- Title 1 and Small School strategies
- Emerging Music Educators, covering topics relevant to those in their first 5 years of teaching
- repertoire selection and program planning
- Recruitment and retention

As a co-founder of the Midwest Clinic, VanderCook College of Music offers participants an opportunity to earn 1 Graduate Credit (one semester hour) by viewing prerecorded sessions and concerts followed by the submission of observation summary outlines and reflection essays.
Participants will be required to compile 6 session reports:
- Two session reports are required to be concert performances.
- Two session reports are required to be clinic sessions.
- Two session reports can be of the participants choosing
Each session report will include the following:
- Participants are provided with specific details for each prerecorded session (including date, time, room, presenter(s), ensemble name, set list, etc.) and are required to upload a screenshot clearly showing session details to Schoology, VanderCook’s online learning platform.
- Participants are to develop written summary outlines of each session.
- Participants are to write personal reflection essay reports (2-3 pages) of each session.
All required course material must be completed and submitted by Friday, December 5, 2025.
