Ron Korbitz holds both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in music education from VanderCook College of Music in Chicago. Ron is currently on faculty at Hill Middle School where he directs three curricular choirs, a young men’s chorus, a young women’s chorus and teaches general music and world music. Prior to his position at Hill, Ron taught K-5 general music and directed the chorus and choir chimes ensembles at Brookdale Elementary. He also directs the Mighty Messengers Children’s Choir at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lisle.
In 2006, Professor Korbitz joined the faculty at VanderCook College of Music teaching methods classes and serving as a research advisor for Master’s Projects. Ron also worked for four years with Anima Young Singers of Greater Chicago. During his tenure with Anima, the organization won the Chorus America Award for creative programming, his choirs toured in the Midwest and performed with the Grant Park Orchestra and Chorus and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Chorus. Many of the members of his Anima ensemble also performed at Lyric Opera of Chicago. He has been a guest conductor and presenter and adjudicator throughout the Midwest. Ron is a member of NAfME, ILMEA, and is the Children’s Choir Repertoire and Standards Chair for the Illinois-ACDA.
