Michael Eastwood received an MA in Japanese History from University of Chicago, an MA in Education from Kyoto University (Japan), and a BA in Japanese Studies from Harvard University. I attended 2 high schools, 2 junior highs, and 5 primary schools, and so consider myself broadly educated. I have a lasting research interest in how modern money structures undergird and discipline popular power and politics.
I teach writing in the Threat and Response Management MS program at the University of Chicago, and advise masters and doctoral candidates in writing at the Institute for Clinical Social Work. I have trained CPS teachers to write up their teaching experience and pass National Board Certification, advised entrepreneurs at early versions of Chicago incubators, and worked as a Resident Head at Hitchcock House in the University of Chicago undergraduate residential system. I currently am Co-Founder of WritetoDo, a startup for kickstarting new projects and getting existing teams in gear with each other and their lives.
I also teach NeuroMovement. As a recoverer from traumatic brain injury (TBI) circa 2008, I have developed an expertise and certifications in embodied intelligence. Using these, I have taught musicians to recover from repetitive stress and also to drop seemingly unavoidable playing habits that were causing them pain.
