Korey Coffer

Curriculum & Administration

Dr. Korey Coffer, Director of Bands at Harvard Community Unit District 50, is originally from DeMotte, Indiana where he graduated from Kankakee Valley High School. He then went on to VanderCook College of Music in Chicago, where he received his Bachelor of Music Education Degree in 2004 and a Master’s of Music Education Degree in 2010. He received his Doctor of Education degree in Educational Leadership from Liberty University in February, 2022. His teaching career began in Kirkland, Illinois, where he taught 6-12 grade choir and 5-12 grade band. He then went on to teach 6th grade general music and beginning band in Merrillville, Indiana, and is now in Harvard, where he has been the Director of Bands since the fall of 2009. He has served as a solo & ensemble judge and clinician for Indiana State School Music Association, the Illinois Grade School Music Association, and for Trills and Thrills Music Festival. He’s been published in the Instrumentalist Magazine. In 2016, Korey received National Board Certification. He has had the honor of guest conducting the Harvard Jr. High Honor Band and presenting at the Illinois Music Educators Conference.

Korey lives in Harvard with his wife, Erika, two daughters, Melody and Aria and two sons, Coletrane and Coda.
