Edward Sailer is the Interim Director of Admissions and Recruitment at VanderCook College of Music. Edward joined the faculty at the end of 2024 after previously being the Associate Director of Bands in the Quincy Public School District (Illinois). He graduated from VanderCook College of Music in 2019 with a bachelor’s Degree and from Western Illinois University in 2023 with a Master of Music in Music Education degree.
Edward is a horn player from Aurora, Illinois. At VanderCook, he was actively engaged in student life by serving on the National Band Association and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia collegiate boards and by being a resident advisor at IIT. His most memorable moment was being awarded the Victor W. Zajec Memorial Scholarship in 2017.
As part of the Quincy Music Department, he taught kindergarten through community collegiate classes in band, orchestra, choir, and general music. In addition to his school duties, Edward was actively engaged in the community. He performed professionally, taught numerous private lesson students, served on the Quincy Community Band executive board, was on staff with the Illinois Ambassadors of Music, and was on the district leadership team for the Illinois Music Education Association District IV. His most memorable events in Quincy were performing at the Illinois State University marching band invitational, receiving the Outstanding Service Award from Arts Quincy Society of Fine Arts (2021), and the VanderCook College of Music Roseanne K. Rosenthal Award (2023).
