Barry Kritzberg has been teaching English at VanderCook College of Music since 1992. He taught English, humanities, journalism, and history in public and private schools for many years and, in addition to working for a newspaper, he edited three different publications.
He has been the recipient of six National Endowment for the Humanities grants, including the Teacher-Scholar award (given only to one teacher per state), which provided a one-year paid sabbatical for independent research.
More than thirty of his articles have been published; he has also edited the English language portion of a volume on Lithuanian bookplates.  He has also written a history of an Academy that was once the preparatory school for the University of Chicago, and has written a historical novel (set in Chicago, 1908-18), and a series of eight Kelly O’Quinn mystery novels.
