Seesaw & Technology
for Music Teachers

(Beginner Level)

ONLINE
June 7July 3, 2021

Note: This is a 4-week course.

This course is for teachers who are looking to acquire basic technology skills in addition to being introduced to Seesaw. This course is designed for beginners and is for teachers who are new to Seesaw or have a basic knowledge of Seesaw.

Seesaw is an incredibly powerful digital portfolio app that provides a platform for music students to actively engage in music making and for music teachers to create, assess, and organize lessons and activities. This course leads them through step-by-step processes of navigating Seesaw, using the existing tools within Seesaw to create exceptional content including inserting videos, drag and drop, erase to reveal, screen recording, melodic and rhythmic dictation, creating worksheets and choice boards, linking to create games or linking to sites. This course is also designed for teachers who feel that they do not have more than a functional knowledge of technology, and will take them through the basics of creating videos using Loom or Screencastify and designing worksheets and templates in Google Slides. Google Apps and Classroom, Chrome Music Lab and Chrome extensions will be discussed.

Schoology is a learning management system that allows you to interact directly with your instructors, fellow students, and members of the greater VanderCook community.

Summer 2021 MECA courses officially begin on Monday, June 7. Soon after you register, be on the lookout for an email from Schoology with log-in instructions. Once you receive credentials, visit online.vandercook.edu to login. On the morning of June 7, you'll have access to your classroom and course material.

Some courses have specific online chat meeting times (please see course descriptions), while others have a flexible meeting schedule. You can expect all courses to meet together in a live online chat. If a live meeting time doesn’t work, you can work with your instructor to make other arrangements.

Online grades will be reported by mid-June. If you need a transcript, please visit the online transcript request page. For faster turnaround time, please submit the transcript request to the registrar prior to the end of your course(s).
