Summer 2020 Cohort 2:  July 6–August 2

Teaching music with Noteflight Learn allows you and your students to create, record and share music in ways never before possible. This project-based course provides real-world training on using Noteflight Learn in the music classroom. This course is offered with or without graduate credit and upon successful completion participants will become Noteflight Learn Certified Educators.

Outcomes:

  • Easily manage students and other teachers in a Noteflight Learn site, including Google Classroom integration
  • Develop composition and arrangement assignments
  • Develop music theory and analysis assignments
  • Use live audio recording for assessment and feedback
  • Discover and share new music from content libraries and the Noteflight community
  • Assess creative projects in a collaborative online environment

Music educators will want to take this course to understand how to get the most out of Noteflight Learn and become a certified resource for other teachers.

Enrollment limited to 15 per cohort.

Instructor: Stefani Langol

slangolStefani Langol is a music educator, clinician, author and education technology consultant. She is Associate Professor of Music Education at Berklee College of Music and also serves as the technology coordinator for the Music Education department. In addition, Langol is an adjunct assistant professor at the Boston Conservatory of Music, where she teaches music technology classes for the masters of music education program. 

Langol is a certified instructor for the Technology Institute for Music Educators (TI:ME) and offers graduate credit and TI:ME national certification courses at numerous sites throughout the Northeast. In addition, Langol served as editor-in-chief of the TI:MEs newsletter from 1997-2004 and as technology editor for the Massachusetts Music Educators Journal from 2004-2012. For over 20 years, Langol has designed and delivered technology training to K-12 and higher education music educators, and has been a featured presenter at numerous state, national and international music educator conferences, including New York, Pennsylvania, California, Ohio, Rhode Island, Florida, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Texas, Illinois and Toronto.
 
Langol is a co-author of the Alfred Music Tech Series, which includes Playing Keyboard, Music Production and MIDI Sequencing, Composing with Notation Software, and the accompanying Teacher’s Guide: Book 1. In addition, she has published several articles on music technology that have appeared in the Music Educators Journal, Music Education Technology Magazine, Music and Computers, Artists House, and Massachusetts Music Educators Journal.

VanderCook Online is powered by Schoology (www.schoology.com). Through this learning management system, you'll be able to interact directly with your instructor, students in your classes, and members of the greater VanderCook Online community.

Summer 2020 MECA courses officially begin on Monday, June 8. Soon after you register, you'll be added as a new Schoology user. Be on the lookout for an email from Schoology with log-in instructions. Once you are given credentials, visit 
www.online.vandercook.edu to login. On the morning of June 8, you'll have access to your classroom and course material.

Some courses have specific online chat meeting times while others have a flexible meeting schedule; please check individual course descriptions and details. You can expect all courses to meet together in a live online chat. If you are unable to attend the scheduled live meeting time, please consult your instructor to make alternative arrangements.

You'll have the opportunity to work at your own pace each week while completing assignments and posting responses to discussion questions. You'll constantly be interacting with your instructor and classmates online, and working through new material each week. We know how crazy school schedules can get, so our instructors try to make everything as flexible as possible!

Transcript requests can be made online using the Transcript Request Form. Any inquiries regarding transcripts should be directed to the Registrar’s Office at 312.788.1151. If you are in need a quick turn around time for your transcript please submit the request to the registrar prior to the end of your course(s).
