Save the dates to attend the 2014 NAfME Music Research and Teacher Education National Conference–April 10-12, 2014.  Join us in St. Louis for a conference with a special focus on research in music education and on music teacher education. This conference is designed for the needs of the higher education and research communities, and will mirror the previous 2012 conference held in St. Louis.
VanderCook College of Music is offering one semester hour of graduate-level academic credit for eligible participants. To earn credit, a student must: 1) attend sessions totaling at least 12.5 clock hours; and 2) complete a notebook documenting activities attended. Registration for credit must be postmarked no later than May 12, 2014. Full tuition must be enclosed with registration. Please send your registration form directly to VanderCook.

Coordinator: Rick Palese

palese_rick_retouchRick Palese joined the administrative team at VanderCook in July 2010, however his relationship with the institution goes back much further. Rick is a VanderCook alumnus, having earned his B.M.Ed. in 2003, and M.M.Ed. in 2008.

Prior to being hired at VanderCook, Rick taught for seven years at Prairie Hill School in Cary, IL, where he directed both 5th and 6th grade bands. While at Prairie Hill, Rick also sponsored Jazz Club, Podcasting Club, and assisted with 6th grade musical productions and school assemblies.

Rick is an avid percussionist and maintains an active teaching studio at Absolute Music in Geneva, IL. He is a member of the Hudson Music Teacher Integration Project, and Vic Firth Education Team.
