Instrument Repair

Students take an intense instrument repair class. Seldom required at other institutions as a part of the degree, this class prepares students to handle any repair situation.  They learn the quick fixes for those emergency situations as well as an in-depth look at each instrument, their mechanical tendencies, and the best practices for preventative maintenance.  No matter what type of budget you inherit, you’ll be able to make the most of it and save lots of money with this acquired skill set.  Students work side by side with professional music teachers out in the field who are taking this class for graduate credit or as a continuing education class.  But more importantly, the class is a blast; it's a favorite among students.

"Instrument repair was the best class I have ever taken. We got hands-on practice at fixing brass and woodwind instruments, and had a lot of fun (we got to use blow torches.) Does it get any better? Even though it was an 8:00 a.m. class on Saturday, I didn't mind going to class at all."  ~ Matt Jackson, BMEd'13.
