Workshop hours are 9:00 AM- 1:00 PM

All workshops will be held at Concordia University in River Forest.  There is a free parking garage for your convenience on campus.  Taking public transportation from the city?  Take the CTA Green Line to the Harlem/Lake station.  From there, take the bus or walk one mile north to Concordia.

VanderCook College of Music is offering one semester hour of graduate-level academic credit for eligible participants. To earn credit, a student must attend sessions totaling at least 12.5 clock hours per credit hour. Registration for credit must be postmarked no later than May 13, 2019. Full tuition must be enclosed with registration. Please send your registration form directly to VanderCook.

Patrick Benson joined the administration of VanderCook College of Music in July 2015 as the director of continuing and online education. Benson earned his B.M.Ed. from VanderCook in 2008 and also received VanderCook’s Esprit de Corps Award. Benson attended the School for New Learning at DePaul University, earning his Master of Arts in Applied Professional Studies in 2017. While at DePaul, Benson was awarded the School for New Learning’s Student Excellence Award and Writing Showcase Award.

Benson returns to his alma mater having taught for seven years at Hubbard High School in Chicago as the director of bands. While at Hubbard, Benson led the marching, jazz and pep bands. He was also the audio/visual coordinator, as well as the school activity director and a local school council representative. Benson is a member of VanderCook’s Alumni Association and served as its president from 2014-2015. Patrick also teaches Technology in Music Education to VanderCook undergrads.

In addition to teaching and working at VanderCook, Benson is an active percussionist and drummer in the Chicagoland area, and currently serves as assistant director of the Lakeside Pride Jazz Orchestra.
