A Note from the Dean's Desk

Dear Undergraduate Student,

Welcome to VanderCook College of Music! As an undergraduate student at VanderCook, you have the opportunity to study in a world-class city with a world-class faculty.  We are committed to providing you with a practical music teacher preparation program that will serve you and the music education community for generations to come.

While studying for the BMEd degree, candidates complete course work in applied instrumental or choral music, music education, professional education, theory and general education classes.  Upon successful completion of the program, candidates will earn a Bachelor of Music Eductaion degree and fulfill the academic requirements necessary to earn teacher licensure in the State of Illinois.

The learning community and history of VanderCook make this a truly unique and specialized program.  Your presence and participation will make a difference within this community.  It is YOUR time to experience the faculty, staff and many opportunities presented to you during these years.  The memories, friendships and mentors you establish now will stay with you and shape your future professionally and personality for the rest of your life.

I look forward to working with you toward your degree completion.  As always, if there is any way that I can help or answer questions, please let me know.
