7664 Effective Presentation Skills for Music Teachers

Music teachers give presentations every day whether they realize it or not. Some presentations are formal and long while most are informal and brief. In this course, you'll acquire the skills to make every presentation effective by learning the PowerPoint tools to create presentations quickly and deliver them professionally. In addition, you'll learn how to overcome the fear of speaking in public and how to improve your non-verbal communication skills.
Required software: PC users must have PowerPoint 2007 or higher, Mac users must have PowerPoint 2011 or higher in order to participate in this course.

Instructor: Danny Rocks


Danny Rocks is the Founder and Catalyst for The Company Rocks, a specialty consulting firm based in Southern California. Danny has published 10 best-selling Video Training Programs that cover the entire Microsoft Office Suite of Programs.

Since starting The Company Rocks in 2006, Danny has consulted for NAMM – The International Music Products Association. He helps to design and deliver their Professional Development training sessions during their two trade shows each year.

Danny enjoyed great success as a professional musician. At the age of 25, he became the Assistant Conductor for “Fiddler on the Roof,” starring Zero Mostel at The Winter Garden Theatre on Broadway.

From Broadway, Danny began a distinguished career in music publishing. He served as an executive at Alfred Publishing for 22 years. During this period, Danny was elected President of The American Music Conference and he served on several music industry boards including MTNA (Music Teachers National Association) and RPMDA (Retail Print Music Dealers Association) which awarded him their highest honor in recognition of his lifetime achievements in music publishing.

Currently, Danny is focused on creating multimedia training resources and delivering webinars that help professionals to improve their communications and software skills.

Schoology is a learning management system that allows you to interact directly with your instructors, fellow students, and members of the greater VanderCook community.

Fall 2021 MECA courses officially begin on Monday, Sept. 20. Soon after you register, be on the lookout for an email from Schoology with log-in instructions. Once you receive credentials, visit to login. On the morning of Sept. 20, you'll have access to your classroom and course material.

Some courses have specific online chat meeting times (please see course descriptions), while others have a flexible meeting schedule. You can expect all courses to meet together in a live online chat. If a live meeting time doesn’t work, you can work with your instructor to make other arrangements.

Online grades will be reported by mid-January. If you need a transcript, please visit the online transcript request page. For faster turnaround time, please submit the transcript request to the registrar prior to the end of your course(s).
