Spend a day with acclaimed tenor saxophonist Jeff Rupert as he hosts a unique class on jazz improvisation for performers and educators.

VanderCook is proud to welcome Yamaha performing artist Jeff Rupert for a special master class on jazz improvisation for young performers and music instructors. Later in the evening, Mr. Rupert will guest with student and faculty ensembles in the Jazz & Percussion Concert.

Both the master class and concert are free and open to the public, and will be held at VanderCook's 3125 South Federal Street building in Chicago

An accomplished tenor saxophonist, Jeff Rupert is Director of Jazz Studies at the University of Central Florida and the founder of Flying Horse Records. He has appeared on numerous recordings as a featured soloist for artists including Diane Schuur, Mel Tormé, Benny Carter, Ernestine Anderson, Sam Rivers and Maynard Ferguson, among many others. He has performed at numerous jazz festivals throughout the world, including the Montreux Jazz Festival and Chicago Blues Festival, and on the stages of many notable venues such as the Blue Note, the Birdland, Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center and the Kennedy Center.
