WGIcon Indoor Marching Arts: A Retrospective

WGI Sport of the Arts is the world’s premiere organization producing indoor color guard, percussion, and winds competitions.  As a non-profit youth organization, WGI also serves as the governing body for the indoor color guard, percussion, and winds activities. WGIcon is the ultimate educational event for all instructors, designers, technicians, and administrators of Percussion, Winds, and Color Guard groups around the globe!  Featuring motivational speakers and a wide array of professional development sessions, WGIcon offers you the chance to hear from leading educators, designers, and technicians on how they make their magic. 

VanderCook College of Music offers participants an opportunity to earn 1 Graduate Credit (one semester hour) by attending clinic sessions followed by the submission of observation summary outlines and reflection essays.  (total course engagement time is 12.5 hours)

Coursework will consist of a variety of observations and/or participation in WGIcon sessions.  These experiences are to be summarized in written (typed) outline form, and reported in reflections essays.  These reports will be submitted for assessment within 2 weeks of the conclusion of participation in WGIcon.  Participants will receive access to Schoology (VCM Online Course Platform) where all course assignments will be outlined. Uploads, course submissions, and instructor feedback will all be through Schoology. Registration, in person attendance and full engagement for 2024 WGIcon is required. Register for 2024 WGIcon.

• Participants will be required to compile 6 session reports.
• Each session report will include:
  • Scans of handouts, concert programs, or share session links to Schoology (VCM On-Line learning platform) for each session. 
  • A written summary outlines of each session.
  • Written personal reflection essay reports (2-3 pages) of each session. 

All required course material must be completed and submitted by October 8, 2024.
