Overview
Whether you had a good experience, were somewhat overwhelmed, or just tried to survive, remote teaching became a sudden reality for all of us this year. And while we don’t quite know what yet lies ahead, preparing your program for the possibility of more online instruction will save you time and energy in the future.
This four-week course will present numerous options that will help you organize, create, and reform your music program from the classroom to Google. Because all of our situations and positions are different, you will get to decide which specific tasks and assignments will benefit your music program the most. Among the topics to be covered:
• Setting up and running Google Meets
• Setting up and running Google Classroom
• Uploading and formatting pre-existing word documents into Google Docs
• Familiarizing yourself with Google Sheet features, functions and formulas
• Assigning self-grading quizzes through Google Forms
• Creating and organizing Gmail Contact Groups, Filters and Labels
• Setting up Google Reminders and Tasks
• Creating and publishing Google Slides presentation
Week four will conclude with a final culminating project that includes application of knowledge and skills acquired from weeks 1-3.
Note: This course is designed for K-12 music teachers. This course was also designed specifically for the novice Google user but all skill levels welcome.
