Course Description

Students will build on prior ukulele skills in this “next level” to the popular “Playing and Teaching Ukulele” course. The primary goal is to engage and energize students by providing quick and easy ways to play more challenging material while enjoying the music students love.

Participants will practice: bar chords and playing in several keys; moving beyond “four-chord” songs; arranging music with chords, melodies, and solos; adaptive ukulele techniques and strategies for special learners; sourcing and using backing tracks; choosing songs for specific occasions and goals; creating ukulele ensembles, small and large; and effective ensemble and song accompaniment.

*  This course is offered at two course levels. Students enrolled in the MMEd program at VanderCook are eligible to enroll for the 500 course number. Students not enrolled in the MMEd program who wish to earn graduate credit as a MECA Continuing Education student should register for the 7000 course number. The difference in credits earned and tuition cost is attributed to the difference in tuition rates for the MMEd and MECA Continuing Education programs.
