Continuing Education Courses
Overview
The course is for GarageBand users who are ready to take their digital recording skills to the next level and anyone wanting to learn Logic Pro on a Mac computer. The expanded tool set offered in Logic Pro offers more power and flexibility for recording, editing and mixing. You will create tracks with acoustic and virtual software instruments including Logic’s Drum Kit and Drum Machine Designers. Learn to edit the timing and pitch of tracks using Flex Time and Flex Pitch, then apply effects to your tracks to create a finished mix.
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
- Import files from GarageBand into Logic Pro
- Record and edit MIDI and audio data
- Create and edit drum tracks using Logic’s Drum Kit and Drum Machine Designers
- Import and edit loops
- Use built-in software instruments
- Learn to mix using Logic Pro’s built-in effect.
Software Requirement
Logic Pro 10.5 or higher (Logic Express is not supported in this course)
Hardware Requirements
- At least 40 GB storage space to install all optional Logic content (large content packages
can be installed on a separate disk) - MIDI keyboard 2
Optional
- XLR microphone
- Audio interface with at least one mic input and stereo output

Instructor
Vince Leonard
Producer and composer Vincent A. Leonard Jr. has had works premiered nationally and internationally. He is published by Arrangers Publishing Company, Educational Programs Network, and National Music Works. He co-authored Recording in the Digital World; Finale: An Easy Guide to Music Notation; Sibelius: A Comprehensive Guide to Music Notation; and Musical iPad. In 1996, he and fellow producer and engineer Jack Klotz Jr. formed Invincible Entertainment and 3 IPS Studio, and have released two CDs, Magic Up Our Sleeve and On the Brink of Tomorrow. Compositional credits include the feature film Running On Empty Dreams, theme and episode music for the Captain Courteous radio series, and numerous theater pieces and industrials. Leonard has provided orchestrations for world premiere productions of Redwall for Opera Delaware, Elliot and the Magic Bed, Isabelle and the Pretty-Ugly Spell and The Little Princess for Upper Darby Summer Stage. Also widely known as a copyist and arranger, he has worked on projects with Peter Nero, the Philly Pops Orchestra, Doc Severinsen, the London Symphony Orchestra, Chuck Mangione and Leslie Burrs, and in musicals by Duke Ellington, Alan Menken, Kurt Weill and Mitch Leigh. Leonard is a member of NARAS and ASCAP, and is active as a clinician and music software beta-tester for Apple computers.
