Overview
There are countless online tools that enable teachers to create engaging materials that support all aspects of music teaching and learning, in both synchronous and asynchronous environments. This course is designed for music educators of all levels who are curious and motivated to explore and learn a variety of cloud-based tools that can be used to inspire creativity, encourage hands-on learning, and equip you and your students with digital skills.
This project-based course will examine several topics, including: music creation and collaboration; creative and effective image editing and design; streaming audio and video; recording and editing screencast videos; easy website design; live streaming, web conferencing, and learning management systems effectively; and the use of myriad educational technology tools for creating and sharing projects, presentations and assessment.
Free and low-cost cloud-based tools will be used in this course, with mention of software-installed solutions when relevant.
Course Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this course you will be able to:

Use online music production and composition tools such as Soundtrap and Noteflight for lesson creation and collaboration

Use live audio recording for assessment and feedback

Use Canva and Pixlr E to create colorful and interesting graphic designs

Identify classroom integration strategies for a variety of streaming audio and video services

Record and edit video, including screencasts and video stories

Design a simple website for curriculum or advocacy purposes

Live stream video from Facebook and YouTube

Effectively use web conferencing tools for music instruction

Use education technology tools such as Flipgrid, EdPuzzle, Wakelet and more.
