In a time where individual musicianship and development is at the forefront, this course aims to provide teachers with the necessary background, tools and strategies to develop student musicianship in the virtual classroom. Using Intelligent Music Teaching by Robert Duke as a reference text, and popular instrumental method books as the application, a week-by-week approach to discussing, researching, comparing and contrasting ways to engage students will be reviewed in detail. This course will also introduce ways to document and artifact student work using Google Classroom and Google Slides.
The mission of VanderCook College of Music is to enrich the lives of present and future generations by developing uniquely skilled music teachers who exhibit strong character, professionalism, and a commitment to excellence.
