Overview

Don’t let your trombone skills SLIDE away! This course covers essential skills and knowledge including warm-ups, lip slurs, airflow, slide technique, legato tonguing, maintenance, and more. You’ll become more proficient on the instrument, as well as gain valuable teaching tips. Designed for the practicing band director, students will participate in a weekly group lesson via Zoom. All handouts & resources are provided. Students will need a trombone, laptop, and webcam.

*Students enrolled in the MMEd degree program at VanderCook may register for this course at the 500-level through the student portal. Please contact Dean Sinclair at [email protected] if academic advising is needed.

Keith Ozsvath

Keith shares his life-long passion for music with the students at Rotolo Middle School in Batavia, Illinois, an eight-time NAMM Best Community for Music Education. In addition to teaching band, he leads the Symphonic Band, Jazz Ensemble, and is the Fine Arts Coordinator and Activities Director. Keith teaches courses at VanderCook College of Music & has presented numerous professional development sessions at The Midwest Clinic, Georgia Music Educators Association, Virginia Music Educators Association, Oklahoma Bandmasters Association, and Illinois Music Educators Conference.
