Course Description
Throughout this course, participants will explore different classroom management strategies. We will examine opening day activities to set up your classroom for success. These activities can also be utilized to ‘reset’ your classroom once the year begins. We will share ideas and explore strategies about how to keep students on task, how to manage large classrooms, as well as how to engage all learners in the classwork. This is appropriate for general music, as well as ensemble teachers. Additionally, students will work together to really zone in and understand your own teaching style and be a constructive observer to your language, and behaviors within the classroom, both positive things as well as things to improve. Additional topics will include advocacy, as well as national and state standards. We will explore these through 3 texts, 2 are provided, and one you will have to have available for this course.
