Course Description
This course examines the variety of choral music from outside the traditional canon. Representative works and composers from Asia, New Zealand, Africa, Oceania, and culture often not represented in the Western Canon are analyzed with regard to faithful representation, linguistic models, and performance practice. Resources for additional investigation of such works will guide individualized study, while communal work will focus on techniques and considerations for bringing this rich collection of music into the choral classroom.
