Continuing Education Courses
Overview
This course focuses primarily on arco playing, and covers fingerings in lower and upper positions, vibrato, intonation, tone, and various bow strokes. By the end of the course, students can expect to be able to play and teach some solo repertoire and orchestral excerpts as students will encounter in their auditions.
This course is the next progressive step for double bass players who completed Intro to Upright & Electric Bass or its equivalent. Knowledge of string instruments other than bass may be adequate. If you are unsure, please send a short video of yourself playing something to [email protected].
*Students enrolled in the MMEd degree program at VanderCook may register for this course at the 500-level through the student portal. Please contact Dean Sinclair at [email protected] if academic advising is needed.
