Brian Logan Joins VanderCook Faculty

VanderCook College of Music is proud to announce that Brian J. Logan has joined its adjunct faculty as an associate professor of music at VanderCook College of Music, Chicago, IL. Brian will be teaching Marching Band Techniques, assisting with the jazz studies program and working with schools throughout the Chicago area on behalf of the college. 

Brian is the Jazz Activities Chair for the National Band Association and in 2016 was awarded the District 214 Friend of the Arts Award, the John Paynter Lifetime Achievement Award from Quinlan and Fabish Music, and the Illinois Band Master of the Year Award from Phi Beta Mu. 

Mr. Logan believes strongly in the process of joyful music making and performances are celebrations of quality work

Mr. Logan was Director of Bands at Wheeling High School from 1991-2016. In his final year at Wheeling HS Mr. Logan's Wind Ensemble performed at the Music for All National Concert Band Festival, their fourth appearance, and won the Class AAA Division at the University of Illinois Superstate Concert Band Festival. Jazz Band 1 performed as the Honor Band at the Northshore Jazz Festival. At Jazz in the Meadows Wheeling's Jazz Band won Class AAA for the tenth consecutive year and Grand Champion for the third consecutive year. The Wheeling Jazz Combo performed at the Midwest Clinic, which was the third Wheeling performance at Midwest in six years. The "Wildcat" Marching Band won three First Place Awards along with two Grand Champion Titles. Twenty-three Wheeling band students earned spots in the ILEA District VII Concert and Jazz Bands.
