Be An Active Alum

Becoming an active member of the Alumni Association is easier than you think! Check out some of the things we have to offer below and talk to Chris Vanderwall ( to get involved today.

Alumni Student Recruiters

As an Alumni Student Recruiter (ASR), you can help ensure that VanderCook continues to grow for years to come. VanderCook visits a number of local college fairs each fall and we would love your help. While other colleges send admissions directors and alumni who likely know only the basics about their school of music, VanderCook has a distinct advantage: we send the music department because that's what we are!

Sharing your passion for VanderCook at a college fair would tremendously help build enrollment. At the beginning, you'll be paired with a VanderCook staff member or someone from the Office of Admissions. As this program develops, we will send alumni out on college fair visits on their own, enabling us to spread the word about VanderCook!

Alumni Liaison Program

The Alumni Liaison program began in 2019. Alumni liaisons are official representatives of their graduating degree and year, and help the Alumni Association communicate the ongoings of the college with the alumni base. This can be done via email, phone, social media or in person! If you would like to be part of the Alumni Liaison program, please reach out to Chris Vanderwall at

Send a Student to VanderCook

One of the most valuable contributions an alum can make is to send us your best and brightest! Talk to your students about the great expeiences you had, the depth of knowledge you learned, and the unforgetable memories you made while you were a VanderCook student.

VanderCook College of Music is built on a strong tradition of excellence in musicianship and in academics. You can give back to the college and share in pride and loyalty to your alma mater by encouraging talented students with a passion for music to apply to and attend VanderCook.

As a VanderCook alum, you can provide the one-on-one interaction, personal attention and encouragement that make the difference between a student of yours choosing VanderCook and a career in music education over another school. Sharing your perspective as a VanderCook graduate is an essential way to continue the VanderCook legacy and tradition of excellence.

Did You Know: The Legacy Scholarship is now $5,000! Your students can get scholarships because they studied with you. You do not have to be a high school teacher for students to qualify. This award is available to students who studied with a VanderCook alum at any level of their education.

If you are interested helping us recruit the next generation of VanderCook grads, please contact Cindy Tovar, director of admissions, at 312.788.1122 or
