Courses Addressing a Professional Educator’s License
Candidates enrolled in the Bachelor of Music Education Program, the Teacher Certification and Entitlement Program, and the Master of Music Education with Certification Program take coursework that leads to licensure in the state of Illinois. All individuals seeking teacher certification or licensure are required to complete licensure tests (Music Content and edTPA), and requirements as prescribed by the Illinois State Board of Education. A candidate seeking additional licensure from outside of Illinois will need to consult with that state’s board of education about any additional requirements to be licensed to teach in that state.
