Teacher Certification Entitlement Program
The Teacher Certification Entitlement Program (TCEP) was designed for candidates who have earned a minimum of a baccalaureate degree in music and wish to earn a certificate to teach in the public schools. Although the Master of Music Education and Certification program is an option for many candidates (completing the requirements for teacher certification and earning the master of music education degree), some are only interested in earning a teaching certificate and not a graduate degree in music education.
TCEP candidates are able to transfer some coursework from their undergraduate institutions to satisfy many of the requirements. The dean's office will prepare and provide a detailed, individualized course plan for each TCEP candidate once they're accepted. This course plan allows candidates to see what classes have transferred in as well as what coursework is outstanding. Outstanding coursework is plotted out by semester so that a student knows, before they ever begin classes, when they'll complete the program.
