Summer Online courses begin June 11 and conclude on August 3, 2018.
3-Credit Tuition Promotion Schedule:
March 5 – April 1, 2018:  $970 (includes $50 savings)
April 2 – April 29, 2018:  $995 (includes $25 savings)
April 30 – August 3, 2018:  $1,020 (Full tuition)

Building on the skills acquired in Level II, this course includes arranging/composition using major/minor and other diatonic modes with appropriate ostinato and harmony-based accompaniments. Recorder ensemble experience and group composition in larger forms are also covered. Texts will be provided, but you must bring your own alto recorder (or tenor or bass recorders, if you have them). 
Prerequisite: Successful completion of Orff Schulwerk Teacher Education Course Level II. 

Instructors: Tim Purdum, Cynthia Seputis & Ben Torres


Tim Purdum teaches K-5 music in Waterloo, IA. Tim is a past president of the First Iowa Orff chapter. He presents workshops nationally for conferences, Orff chapters, and school districts, and has taught summer Orff Schulwerk courses for seven years. Tim is the primary author and publisher of the Creative Sequence book series, and recently released his first music education iOS App.
Seputis,_Cynthia_headshot_2012Cynthia Seputis has a B.S. in Music Ed from the University of Illinois and a Masters of Music Ed from Northwestern University. She completed all three levels of her Orff training at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Cynthia has taught K-5 general music at George B. Carpenter Elementary School in Park Ridge, Illinois for the past twenty-two years. She is a regional presenter and is proud to have been part of the VanderCook Orff team since the program's inception ten years ago.


Ben Torres is in his 12th year in Richardson ISD and his fourth year as the K-6 music specialist at Brentfield Elementary in Dallas where he also directs the Brentfield Singers, the Rhythm Cats Orff Ensemble and serves as the JJ Pearce Area Team Leader.  The Brentfield Singers was selected as an Invited Elementary Choir and performed at the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) Convention in 2014.  The Rhythm Cats have been invited to perform at the 2016 TMEA Convention.  Prior to this, he was the K-6 music specialist at Richland Elementary where he also directed a choir and Orff ensemble, which was selected to perform at the 2011 TMEA Convention, and served as the Berkner Area Team Leader.  Ben received his Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from West Texas A&M University in Canyon.  He completed his Orff Schulwerk training at SMU and teaches movement in the Orff Schulwerk training course at Trinity University in San Antonio, teaches movement and recorder in the Orff Schulwerk course at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway, and other courses in the country.  He is currently the President of the North Texas Chapter of the American Orff-Schulwerk Association (AOSA).
