Registration for all Summer courses begins March 5, 2018.
Registration for all Summer Online courses closes on June 1, 2018 at
12:00 p.m. CDT.
Summer Online courses begin June 11 and conclude on August 3, 2018.
3-Credit Tuition Promotion Schedule:
March 5 – April 1, 2018:  $970 (includes $50 savings)

This course will explore some of the many scoring situations possible for woodwinds, brass and percussion in small ensembles as well as for full band. Effective instrument ranges and colors will be explored. Online audio chat sessions will be held every Wednesday from 5:00-6:00pm CDT. This course is the perfect precursor to the Band Arranging MECA course.
Required software: A full-feature version of either Sibelius or Finale (academic editions have full features). 

Instructor: Ken Snoeck


Kenneth Snoeck recently retired after a 35-year teaching career, the last 23 of which were at Lake Park High School in Roselle, IL. While at Lake Park, Snoeck’s concert bands toured Moscow in 1997, performing concerts with the band of the Russian Defense Ministry. In 2000, his concert bands toured France, performing a joint concert with the French Navy Band in Toulon. The Lake Park Wind Ensemble was also an Illinois SuperState Concert Band Festival contest participant on multiple occasions.
Snoeck received a Bachelor of Science in education and Master of Music degrees from Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant, MI. In 1973, Snoeck was awarded the College Band Directors National Association’s Best Original Manuscript for the Biennium 1971-1973 composition prize for “Scaramouch”, Symphony No. 3 for Winds and Percussion. He was inducted into the Bands of America Hall of Fame in 2004 and awarded an honorary doctorate from VanderCook in 2008. Since retiring from full time teaching, Snoeck has devoted his time to music composition, arranging and adjudication, traveling to Canada and across the U.S. as a judge for numerous band events.

The summer online term officially begins on Monday, June 11. The week prior to June 11, you'll be added as a new Schoology user. Be on the lookout for an email from or with log-in instructions. Once you are given credentials, simply visit to login. On the morning of June 11, you'll have access to your classroom and course material.

Some courses have specific online chat meeting times (please see course descriptions), while others have a flexible meeting schedule. You can expect all courses to meet together in a live online chat. If a live meeting time doesn’t work, you can work with your instructor to make other arrangements.

You’ll have the opportunity to work at your own pace each week while completing assignments and posting responses to discussion questions. You’ll constantly be interacting with your instructor and classmates online, and working through new material each week. We know how crazy summer schedules can get, so our instructors try to make everything as flexible as possible!
