Housing and Dining
Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) invites students from VanderCook College of Music to experience the convenience of living on campus during the summer terms. With a state-of-the-art residence hall, a world class campus center, several dining options and easy access to downtown Chicago, Illinois Institute of Technology offers all of the benefits of home in the heart of the city. Students will live in State Street Village (SSV), which is IIT's newest residence hall, and features a variety of living options. Wireless internet, cable, community kitchens, on-floor laundry and 24-hour security are just a few of the amenities SSV offers.
Illinois Institute of Technology Dining
A variety of meal plans are offered for VanderCook students. Meal plans are offered with or without Bonus Points (which are equivalent to $1). Bonus Points offer you the flexibility to make purchases at various on campus dining outlets. Board plan meals will be eaten in the MTCC Commons. Meal plans are required of all VanderCook students living in SSV. Bonus points and meals will expire at the close of each week and are not cumulative. Board plan prices are listed per week.
Commuter meal plans are availble to commuters and those living off-campus. Information on those plans can be found here.
Subletting an Apartment in Chicago
Summer graduate students frequently sublet apartments in the neighborhoods close to and surrounding VanderCook. Rooms can be found via a number of search engines. Occasionally, undergraduate students will put up their apartment or room for subletting during the summer and we pass that information along to graduate students as we learn of it.
Parking and Transit
Two elevated railway stations are within a short walk of VanderCook: the “35th/Bronzeville”station on the CTA Green Line and the “35th/Sox” station on the Red Line. A number of bus routes operate in the vicinity as well.
