Spring 2019 Information

Registration Opens Monday, November 26, 2018
Registration for all spring online courses closes on February 1, 2019 at
12:00 p.m. CDT.
Spring online courses begin February 4, 2019 and conclude on May 5, 2019.
Spring Break for online courses:
March 18-24, 2019 (no classes will be held).
 
Online Course Tuition Promotion Schedule (3-Credit Courses):
 
November 26 – December 22, 2018:  $970
 
December 23 – January 13, 2019:  $995
 
January 14 – February 4, 2019:  $1,020
 
 
1-Credit Tuition:
$340 (no promotional pricing)
Promotional pricing applies only for tuition paid in full and excludes single credit courses and Band Instrument Repair.
 
The cost per-credit for the 2018-2019 acedemic year is $340.
*Band Instrument Repair is excluded from this cost schedule
 
One or two semester hours of graduate credit may be earned by attending concert performances, educational clinics and exhibits. Students must attend clinic sessions and concerts for 12.5 hours for one graduate credit. The notebook of summaries, critiques, programs/handous and other supporting materials must be submitted to VanderCook no later than April 12, 2019.  Students seek credit must also register with ASTA for the workshop. 
 
The American String Teachers Association (ASTA) enriches people’s lives by supporting string and orchestra teaching and playing. ASTA develops leadership in the profession, enhances the visibility of string teaching, promotes the inclusion of string programs in schools, creates a community that embraces diversity and enhances the quality of string teaching and performing.

David Eccles is a native of Norfolk, Virginia and the son of a music educator. He currently serves as Director of String Music Education and Orchestral Activities at VanderCook College of Music in Chicago, Illinois. He has held string education positions in Virginia and Florida. An active conductor and cellist, Eccles has held conducting and music director positions with the Florida State University Summer Music Camps, Tallahassee Symphony Youth Orchestra, Southwest Florida Symphony Youth Orchestra, Greater Miami Youth Symphony, Jubilate Youth Orchestra, and Brevard Symphony Youth Orchestra. He has served as a guest conductor for various state, county, regional, and community orchestras. Mr. Eccles is also a clinician for the Hal Leonard Corporation.

Mr. Eccles is completing his doctoral studies at Florida State University. He holds a Master of Music Degree in Music Education from University of Miami (Florida) and Bachelor of Music and Media from Norfolk State University. His principal teachers include Elizabeth Eccles, Laurien Laufman, Ross Harbaugh, and Dr. Michael Allen. His most influential lessons have come from scores of energetic students and thoughtful colleagues who continue to be a constant source of inspiration.

David is a member of NAfME, Phi Mu Alpha, Phi Kappa Lambda, and serves as President of the Illinois Chapter of American String Teachers Association. He also serves as Administrative Vice-President of the Skokie Valley Symphony Orchestra Board.
