6864 Orff Schulwerk Teacher Education Course Level II

This course builds on the foundation of the Level I class and includes folk melodies, modes and rhythms from around the world. Learn more complex accompaniments, musical forms and improvisations. Texts will be provided, but you must bring your own alto recorder; bring tenor and bass recorders if you have them. 
 
Prerequisite: Successful completion of Orff Schulwerk Teacher Education Course Level I.

Brian Burnett teaches elementary music, K-6, in the Rossford Schools near Toledo, OH. He graduated from Bowling Green State University with bachelor and master degrees in music education. His master thesis, titled Creativity in the General Music Class, introduced him to the Orff approach to music education. Burnett continued his studies with post-graduate work in Orff-Schulwerk in Minnesota, and now teaches teacher-education courses and workshops across the country. His movement directions and Orff arrangements may be found in Macmillan/McGraw-Hill, Share the Music‚ and Spotlight On Music. Burnett served on the National Board of Trustees of the American Orff-Schulwerk Association as national conference chair for the 2009 Professional Development Conference in Milwaukee,WI.
 

Seputis,_Cynthia_headshot_2012Cynthia Seputis has a B.S. in Music Ed from the University of Illinois and a Masters of Music Ed from Northwestern University. She completed all three levels of her Orff training at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Cynthia has taught K-5 general music at George B. Carpenter Elementary School in Park Ridge, Illinois for the past twenty-two years. She is a regional presenter and is proud to have been part of the VanderCook Orff team since the program's inception ten years ago.

Judah_Lauder,_Chris_headshot_2011Chris Judah-Lauder teaches music and movement to grades 5-8 at Good Shepherd Episcopal School of Dallas. She is the President of the American Orff-Schulwerk Association and has served as past National Conference Chair, Local Conference Chair, and Region Representative. She received her Orff Certification at Hamline University and her master’s with Richard Gill at St. Paul University. She has 14 publications to her name, is a contributing author of Macmillan/McGraw-Hill’s “Spotlight on Music,” and is an active presenter and clinician.
