Financial Aid Dates to Remember
Candidates should begin applying for financial assistance for the next academic year. FAFSA forms may be completed online at www.fafsa.ed.gov school code 001778. A complete listing of grants, scholarships, and loans is available on the VanderCook website under 'Paying for School'.
Candidates' FAFSA for the next academic year should be filed by this date.
The Teacher Education Scholarship Program (TESP) application for the next academic year is available online as an interactive application within the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) website (www.collegeillinois.org) by early January. This application must be submitted each academic year in order to apply for the IFTC or MTI Scholarship programs. As part of the interactive application, a digital ID allows applicants to provide a legally binding digital signature. Obtaining a digital ID is the first part of the application process; applicants must have a valid Illinois driver's license or state ID in order to register. Individuals who are interested in submitting a TESP application but are unable to obtain a digital ID from the State of Illinois should contact an ISAC counselor at the ISAC website.
For priority consideration, a complete application must be received on or before March 1 preceding the academic year for which the applicant is applying. A new application must be submitted each year that an applicant wishes to be considered for a scholarship. As the number of scholarships awarded each year is based on limited funding, it is possible that not all applicants who meet the March 1 priority consideration deadline will receive a scholarship. All applicants are encouraged to submit their applications as far in advance of March 1 as possible. Applications received after that date will be given consideration for the scholarship if, after the initial round of awarding, funding remains available. The total number of scholarships awarded in a given fiscal year is contingent upon available funding.
The deadline for returning candidates to complete their fall registration with the appropriate dean.
Financial aid estimates and award letters will be mailed out on a rolling basis. Applications will be processed in the order they are received.
All required financial aid paperwork (submission of all required documents for verification requests and loan applications) should be completed by this date.
