Forms are available on Ruppel Library's website (see left-hand column on this page). The web-based form can be submitted at any time and will be processed within 24 hours. Loan requests can also be placed directly through FirstSearch. Once you locate an item you wish to borrow in any FirstSearch database, you will notice a link near the top of the page that says ILL (interlibrary loan). Click the link to fill out and submit the form. Alternatively, requests can be submitted through email (dwidmer@vandercook.edu) or by phone (312-225-6288 x.226).
Books, dissertations, scores, journal articles, sound recordings, and videos. Note: please search Ruppel Library's catalog to see if your item is available in our own library before placing your request.
Journal article requests take approximately one week. Requests for books or A/V materials take approximately two weeks. Rush requests are also accepted, at an additional cost.
Charges include shipping and processing. You must pay in advance by credit card or check. Fill out a payment authorization form.
Undergraduate students and Masters and Certification students: Your library use fee, paid as part of your tuition, will allow us to obtain up to 10 items per year at no charge. Additional items will be charged according to the rates below.
Full-time Graduate students: During the six-week summer session, your library use fee, paid as part of your tuition, will allow us to obtain up to 10 items per summer at no charge. Additional items will be charged according to the rates below. For requests submitted throughout the rest of the year, see our Distance Education Services policy.
Returnable Items (books, CDs, DVDs, etc.): $5.00 per item
Photocopies (articles, book chapters, etc.): $.25 per page
Rush requests: additional charge of $20 per item
How will you be notified when your request comes in?
We will endeavor to deliver the item directly to you, but, if you prefer, we can also notify you by email or telephone and hold your materials at Ruppel Libraryís information desk.
Materials can normally be used for three weeks. Please check the due date when you pick up the item. Renewal requests must be submitted before the original due date. You may take materials out of the library for home use.
How many items can I check out?
Full-time enrolled students at VanderCook College of Music can check-out up to 15 items.
