LEGACIES

 
Consider naming rights in VanderCook College of Music redeveloped building by making a major gift or pledge.  Your name, leadership and generosity will be showcased on a specific area in the building and on the Donor Wall.  
 
Here are some examples of legacies that continue to live on at VanderCook College of Music:

Dr. Lewis and Mrs. Gerry Schmidt
 
Dr. Lewis Schmidt received his M.M.Ed. from VanderCook in 1963. He taught music in Wisconsin schools for 41 years until he retired in 1998. Dr. Schmidt spent 25 years of his career in the public school system, the last 16 of which were as head of the department and high school band director at River Valley High School in Spring Green, WI. He spent the following 16 years as chairman of the creative arts division, associate professor of music education, and band director at Lakeland College in Sheboygan, WI.  Dr. Schmidt served as a consultant and adjudicator for the Wisconsin School Music Association and conducted the Kiel Municipal Band since 1984.  He was also on VanderCook’s alumni board and served as Chair of VanderCook’s board of trustees until his passing in 2016.

Mr. Savatore Grasso
 
Mr. Grasso was a retired Chicago Public School band director and tireless advocate for music education. The Grasso Family has been associated with VanderCook College of Music for many years.  They are regular attendees at VanderCook events and loyal, generous supporters of the Great Teachers Scholarship Fund.  The Grasso Family established a memorial for Salvatore A. Grasso. This initiative will transform a 25,000-sq-ft. building on campus into a state-of-the-art performance and education center, and secure the future of music education everywhere.

Mr. George Quinlan, Sr.
 
The Quinlan Family created the George Quinlan, Sr. Legacy Fund as part of the Inspire. Build. Sustain. Capital Campaign. This initiative will transform a 24,400-sq-ft. building on campus into a state-of-the-art performance and education center, and secure the future of music education everywhere.  Donations will be directed towards what will become the George Quinlan, Sr. Recital Lobby and Recital Hall.
