THE GREAT TEACHERS SCHOLARSHIP FUND
The Great Teacher's Scholarship Fund is the primary scholarship fund for VanderCook students. Each year over 90% of all students receive financial assistance from the college. VanderCook hosts several events throughout the year to support this scholarship:

GREAT TEACHERS SCHOLARSHIP
Award amount $500 Students in their 3rd year (6th semester) with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 are eligible for a Great Teachers Scholarship award. Additional criteria include passing the Illinois State Board of Education’s TAPS and Music Content area exams and all portions of the VanderCook Teaching Certification Standards Assessment; demonstrating significant progress in the development of the professional teaching portfolio; and completion of the pre-clinical observation hour requirements.
FUTURE TEACHER AWARD
Award amount $500. Transfer or new undergraduate students are eligible. How to apply: Awarded by admissions committee. Student is not eligible if admitted on musical or academic probation. Grant is given for the first year of attendance. It is not renewable.
NEED BASED AWARD
Award amount $250-$2,000. Undergraduate students demonstrating financial need are eligible. How to apply: Submit a FAFSA by February 15. Based on need according to the VanderCook financial aid office. Awards are reviewed annually.
ACADEMIC GRANT AWARD
Award amount $1,000. First-time freshman students graduating with at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale are eligible. Students must also score a composite 22 on their ACT or 1,100 composite SAT score (reading plus math). How to apply: Nominated by admissions committee. Renewable provided student maintains full-time enrollment status, earns a 3.0 semester GPA, and participates in ensembles as assigned.
DEAN'S LIST AWARD
Award amount $200. Full-tim undergraduate students with a semester GPA of 3.5 or higher, and a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher are eligible as well as Full-time master and certification or TCEP students with a semester GPA of 3.8 or higher, and a cumulative of 3.0 or higher. How to apply: Grade reports are automatically evaluated at the end of each term. The award is applied to the following semester's tuition and fees.
Awards of up to $3,000. All VanderCook students are eligible. Award amounts are based on merit. How to apply: Awards are based upon the faculty evaluation of your audition. A completed application to VanderCook is required to receive an award. This grant automatically renews provided the student earns a cumulative GPA of 2.5 and maintains full time status and participation in major ensembles as assigned.
Award amount $500-$5,000. Undergraduate, master and certification, and TCEP students who display the highest levels of academic excellence and musical ability are referred to the president for award consideration. How to apply: Nominated by admissions committee. Renewable provided student maintains full-time enrollment status, earns a 3.25 semester GPA, and participates in ensembles as assigned. Full-time master and certification or TCEP students must earn a 3.75 semester GPA.
