Calling upon teachers to make data driven decisions is quickly becoming a focal point within school communities. This class centers around three main concepts: assessment, designing instruction, and long-term program development. In this course, directors will develop assessments to gauge student progress, borrow strategies from the RTI model to reach struggling students, and use collected data to drive long-term curriculum development.
Students enrolling in this unique two-Saturday course will have the opportunity to develop tools to use in the classroom in the September session, and bring them back for reflection and development in December. Students should plan to bring two to three band arrangements they intend to program with their students, and if possible, a conductor’s book for any method book they might use.
