Objective: Day of Guitar is an opportunity for guitar students to work with skilled clinicians.  All participating schools are offered individualized clinics.  During this 30 minute clinic guitar classes and guitar ensemble will receive coaching and hands-on work with a clincian.  Each group will be given the chance to perform at the end of the day and all participants will be part of a large guitar orchestra.

Doug_BoduchDoug Boduch is this year's featured presenter.  Doug is the primary session guitarist for Hal Leonard Corporation and has recorded more than 300 books, CDs, and DVDs from Robert Johnson to Yngwie Malmsteen.  He also teaches guitar at Cascio Interestate Music in New Berlin, Wisc and performs live regularly with the group The Acoustix.  Visit Doug's page by clicking here.

Day of Guitar features Dr. Julie Goldberg, Assistant Professor of Guitar and Director of the Classical Guitar Ensemble at VanderCook College of Music.
This workshop will spark students’ enthusiasm for guitar and encourage them to strive to the next level of guitar performance. Instructors will pick-up tips on repertoire, running rehearsals, and playing techniques. Designed for classical, jazz, pop, and acoustic guitarists of all levels, from first year beginners to the technically advanced, Day of Guitar is a great opportunity for students to meet and make music with musicians from other schools. Students will rehearse and perform with the Day of Guitar Orchestra, receive coaching and instruction from many of Chicago’s finest guitar teachers, and be able to perform an ensemble or solo piece in the afternoon concert.
Day of Guitar will begin with registration at 9:00 a.m. and end by 2:15 p.m. Activities will also include the Guitar Orchestra rehearsal, and a performance featuring each school's ensemble and the Day of Guitar Orchestra. The guitar orchestra music is easy enough for beginners and includes challenging parts for the more advanced player. Instructors should practice and rehearse the music with their students before the event.
Completed forms should be received no later than Friday, October 28, 2016. The registration fee is $25.00 per student and includes lunch; directors and instructors are free. Payment should be received by Monday, November 14, 2016.  Fees cannot be refunded once payment is sbmitted, so please nominate wisely.  Please pay for all students on one school-printed check or purchase order. A credit card payment is also accepted. Make all checks out to VanderCook College of Music.
