What's New

Two Digital Projects Launched: VanderCook College of Music received an award from the Consortium of Academic and Research Libraries in Illinois (CARLI) to fund two digital projects highlighting the college's two founding luminaries.

H.A. VanderCook the Teacher, by Gilbert Edwin Wilson - this is the definitive biography of Mr. VanderCook, which includes a digital version of the text, along with audio narration and photographs.

H.E. Nutt Teaching Worksheets - over 100 worksheets authored by H.E. Nutt, the college's co-founder and past president. Provides digital versions of the worksheets, some of which include audio narration.

Mission

The purpose of the H.E. Nutt Archives is to collect, preserve, and make available for research those materials documenting the history of VanderCook College of Music, and the role of the College and its members in music education past and present.

The H.E. Nutt Archives serves as an information resource and strives to promote research among the "VanderCook College community," including individuals and collective members of the faculty, staff, administration, student body, and alumni. The Archives also serves individuals outside of the "VanderCook College community" who have an interest in the College's history or the history of music education.

The H.E. Nutt Archives is a department of VanderCook College of Music.


User Services

Policies

The H.E. Nutt Archives is open to VanderCook College of Music's administrative personnel, faculty and students, VanderCook College alumni, outside researchers, and others interested in the history of VanderCook College of Music or music education.

Archive materials are non-circulating and can be viewed on-site in Ruppel Memorial Library's reading room at VanderCook College of Music, by appointment only.

Although reference questions are accepted, researchers are encouraged to make an appointment to visit the Archives and perform their own research.

Duplication of archival materials may be requested, in accordance with copyright law and the discretion of archives staff. Prices are: photocopies ($.10 each page), scanned images printed on B&W laserjet ($1.00 each page), scanned images printed on color laserjet using photo quality paper ($5.00 each page).

Note: Certain archival materials (i.e. personnel records) are confidential and can not be viewed without written consent. Contact the archivist for detailed information on Archives policy regarding confidential records.
