PROCLAMATION
Richard M. Daley, Mayor

WHEREAS, since 1982, the member archivists, librarians, curators and historians of the Chicago Area Archivists have worked to preserve and promote access to historically valuable resources in our city; and

WHEREAS, the Chicago Area Archivists joins communities throughout the nation in celebrating Archives Month; and

WHEREAS, Archives Month in Chicago offers everyone the opportunity to learn about Chicago’s valuable historical and genealogical resources; and

WHEREAS, the event acknowledges the important contributions made by archivists to the preservation of our city’s past in archival repositories, museums and libraries throughout Chicago:

NOW, THEREFORE, I, RICHARD M. DALEY, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF CHICAGO, do hereby proclaim October, 2007, to be ARCHIVES MONTH IN CHICAGO and urge all Chicagoans to recognize the people and resources that allow for the preservation of our city’s rich history.
