Book Advance
Book Advance
A Book Advance request is granted to Pell-eligible students who were determined to have a Title IV* credit balance. This is not a requirement but an option to eligible students. You can request a Book Advance based on pending Title IV* credit up to a maximum amount of $800 per semester (this includes any amount requested through VanderCook Voucher system). Your credit balance must exceed $800 to receive the maximum amount in your Book Advance. To be determined eligible, a student must:
- Be enrolled for the current term
- Be Pell eligible
- Have a Title IV funds* credit balance after all institutional charges (including but not limited to; tuition, fees, housing and meal plans)
- Have $0 previous balance
- Have submitted all outstanding documents to the Financial Aid Office
- Have submitted a Request for Advance form to the Business Office
- Not have a credit balance based on loans (new students)
- Have received an eligibility email from the Financial Aid Office
Opt-Out: VanderCook is required to make all or part of a Pell Grant-eligible student’s anticipated credit balance available in time for the student to purchase books and supplies. By not submitting the Book Advance Request form when eligible, a student is voluntarily opting out of this program which grants the student early access to financial aid funds for the purpose of books and supplies. Students with a Title IV credit balance who opt-out of the Book Advance Request process will receive their financial aid refund within 14 days of the date that the credit balance was created on their VanderCook student account.
PLEASE NOTE: Your Book Advance will be deducted from your credit balance which will offset your refund. Approval is granted based on the status of the student’s account at the time that the Advance Request form is received. If any changes in enrollment or any other circumstances lead to a change in the student’s financial aid eligibility, the student will become responsible for any outstanding balances that may occur. The student is responsible for repaying VanderCook within ten business days.
BY COMPLETING THIS PROCESS YOU AGREE TO USE THESE FUNDS FOR THE SOLE PURPOSE OF PURCHASING BOOKS AND SUPPLIES.
*Title IV funds are : Subsidized and Unsubsidized Stafford Loans, Graduate and Parent PLUS loans, Pell Grant, Federal Supplemental Educational Grant (FSEOG), Teacher Educational Assistance for College and Higher Education Grant (TEACH) and Federal Work Study.
Every Gift Matters…
Gifts to VanderCook come in many forms and sizes and each one truly makes a difference. You may wonder how a small contribution can matter to the college – how it can “make a dent.” Combined with other donor gifts, even a relatively minor contribution can make a major impact.
