Shaun T. Zimmerman grew up in Tiffin, Iowa, and moved to Chicago, Illinois in 2011. His primary instrument is classical guitar, however, he also plays trombone in Symphonic Band, french horn in the Philharmonic Orchestra, and sings in Choir. He has started his own guitar studio, providing private lessons for students of all ages around the Chicago area. After graduation, Mr. Zimmerman wishes to teach high school or middle school band and continue to teach guitar.
Spontaneous Combustion is a high-energy piece for developing bands. It explodes out of the starting blocks and keeps moving relentlessly to the last note. Robert Sheldon is a well known composer for concert wind band. He has taught in public schools in Illinois and Florida, as well as at the University of Florida, for 28 years. Sheldon is an internationally recognized clinician and conducts several different ensembles. This piece was commissioned for Jose M. Lopez Middle School Honors Band and their director, Andy Post, in San Antonio, TX. It was first premiered on May 3, 2011.
