Applied Trombone, Euphonium, and Tuba

“As a working professional musician, I have come to believe that the most desirable music is live music. I take great pleasure in conveying this concept to my students as they progress into the world as music educators.”

Life at VanderCook

As a student of trombone, euphonium, or tuba at VanderCook, you will have a private lesson with me each week. Together we will assess your level of performance, including technique and repertoire. Besides working on the basics such as scales and arpeggios, you will perform standard literature of etudes and solos. Something new to VanderCook is use of the Smart Music program which incorporates all the aspects of playing your particular instrument. In addition to private study, you will have the opportunity to perform in any number of ensembles including concert band, orchestra, jazz ensemble and brass ensemble. You will display the versatility of low brass instruments in solo and chamber music performances, as well demonstrate their importance as components of larger performing groups. Your playing experience at VanderCook not only will provide you with performance skills, but also will prepare you for your future as a successful music educator.

Are you thinking about becoming a music teacher? If so, I'd be happy to answer any questions you may have about teaching music. I'd also love to chat with you about what VanderCook has to offer and what you can expect if you choose to study trombone, euphonium, or tuba here.
