“Music is one of the most important ways for me to connect with other people and with the deepest human emotions.  I feel extremely lucky that I get to share this passion with students every day in my work!”

Life at VanderCook

Life for a trumpet student at VanderCook is always busy, challenging, and rewarding.  The rapport among the trumpet students is warm and friendly, and you will be surrounded by other students who share your passions.  You can always find another trumpet student who is happy to get together outside of class to play duets, work on ensemble music, and generally offer support and encouragement.  As your weekly private lesson teacher, I will work with you to address a balanced repertoire of etudes and solo literature, specially tailored to your musical development.  You will also have plenty of opportunities to perform, both as a soloist and as an ensemble member in the concert band, jazz band or combo, and in the brass ensemble.  Your growth as a performing musician can offer some of the most challenging and rewarding experiences in your training.  At VanderCook, you will improve as a player, and together we will hone the skills necessary for you to become an excellent music teacher.

Are you thinking about becoming a music teacher? If so, I'd be happy to answer any questions you may have about teaching music. I'd also love to chat with you about what VanderCook has to offer and what you can expect if you choose to study trumpet here.
