Biography:

A native of Freeport, IL, Mr. Hasken is currently finishing his master of music education degree at VanderCook College of Music. He has a bachelor’s degree in jazz guitar performance from Columbia College Chicago. Along with teaching guitar and drum lessons, he performs with the VanderCook Philharmonic, VCM Guitar Ensemble, and is a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. He plans on teaching Elementary and Middle School music after graduation.

 

Program Notes:                   

Arlington Sketcheswas commissioned by the Arlington Symphony Orchestra for the 1994 District String Festival. The first performance involved over 300 performers of all ages. It has a driving, rhythmic introduction, contrasted by a fluid lyrical section, and builds to a dramatic finale. Like much of Del Borgo’s work, it is has rich harmonies and a variety of colors and techniques.
