POSITION
Director of String Music Education
Full Time with Fall, Spring and Summer Teaching Obligations
QUALIFICATIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Energetic, good communicator, team player.
- Desire to develop string music educators at both the undergraduate and graduate (masters) levels.
- Direct the college orchestra and string chamber ensembles.
- Knowledge of educational and artistic repertoire for both string and full orchestra.
- Willingness to serve as a resource to string music educators and string music education programs in the city, area, and region.
- Proficiency as a string player with competency to teach high or low string techniques classes
as well as applied lessons on their major instrument at both the undergraduate and graduate
levels. - Teach string methods classes at undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Ability to teach orchestral conducting to undergraduate and graduate music educators that includes rehearsal strategies, error detection, repertoire selection, score study, as well as baton technique.
- Administrate all aspects of the string music education program including direct oversight of string chamber music program, instrument issue/collection procedures, instrument inventory maintenance and the orchestra library.
- Successful public or private school experience (minimum of five years) in the elementary, middle or high school levels.
- Doctorate preferred but not mandatory.
SALARY
Competitive based on degree and experience
